  She's fabulous. I'm also in the medical field, so I feel I know what to look for. She is level-headed, and yes, does know when to "brush off" certain concerns (or rather, offer reassurance). On the other hand, when I had a headache that was potentially dangerous, she got me in for an MRI immediately, and even went head-to-head with my insurance company to get it covered. She is not one to over-treat with antibiotics or order unnecessary and expensive diagnostic tests. She is knowledgeable about current medical research and guidelines and is committed to evidence-based practice, even when that means disappointing patients. If you want narcotic pain pills for a twinge in your back, antibiotics for a cold that started 2 days ago, or thyroid medicine for subclinical hypothyroidism (to help you lose weight and have more energy... in exchange for osteoporosis and heart dysrrhythmias), you should probably look elsewhere. There are plenty of providers out there willing to take your money and do that for you--but do it at your own risk. Dr. McDonald is the kind of physician who is truly committed to promoting health and doing no harm.
